Sealants

A dental sealant is a clear or white material that is applied to the chewing surface of the back teeth where cavities occur most often.  The sealant acts as a barrier that keeps out plaque and food and decreases the risk of tooth decay.  Sealants are easy to apply.  Each tooth requires only a few minutes for application.

Sealants are routinely recommended for children however in our practice our focus is on health and prevention and we recommend sealants for adult patients as well.  You never outgrow the risk of developing tooth decay and cavities.

Please note sealants are not a substitute for proper oral hygiene.  Brushing twice a day for two minutes and flossing daily along with topical fluoride mouth rinse and sealants are preventive ways to maintain your complete dental health.
